Senior Product Engineer, Tracing

The work

Our tracing product ingests about forty billion spans a day. The interesting problem is not storage — it is making a question like "which deploy made checkout slow last Tuesday" answerable in under a second, without the user learning a query language.

What you would do

• Own the query planner that sits between our columnar store and the UI
• Design the sampling strategy for high-cardinality customers
• Work directly with the four people who use this daily at our largest accounts

What we look for

• You have built something that had to stay fast as data grew by an order of magnitude
• You are comfortable owning a system end to end, including the parts written in Go
• You write things down

How we hire

A 30-minute call, a paid four-hour project you keep, and a half-day with the team. We give a decision within two working days of the final round.
